“Right-Wing Media LynchMob Gay-Baits White House – Facts Be Damned”
Sunday, October 4th, 2009A Pithy But Soft Rant About the Value of Real-World Journalism Assignments for Students
Sunday, September 27th, 2009A former WORD writer is a Deputy Press Secretary for the Manhattan Borough President. She was introduced to politics via an advanced reporting class assignment several years ago when she was a student at Hunter and was required to contact her elected officials for her article. She was persistent about getting her phone calls returned and being treated with respect. She eventually visited the office of a New York State senator to accentuate her seriousness. It’s not easy being a serious student journalist.

Action Alert – FAIR
Friday, September 25th, 2009USA Today, AP Mislead on Honduran Coup - 9/24/09: This week, ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya returned to Tegucigalpa – though not to office. Ed Kent: The Real Unemployment Rate
Monday, September 7th, 2009Kent is a retired Brooklyn College philosophy professor who writes for a number of yahoo groups (which I believe he started). The following is from his OurStupidEconomy@yahoogroups.com:

Right Wing Attacks on Unions
Friday, September 4th, 2009From Abby Scher, Editorial Director, The Public Eye Magazine, about two upcoming radio shows on National Radio Project and WBAI.
I’ve been tracking anti-union campaigns from the Right and did a short radio documentary for Making Contact being broadcast this week about the Right’s misinformation campaign to stop labor law reform this year. They are going all out. Unions are a potent reality check. People in unions don’t tend to fall for a lot of the free market mythology about how the world works.
CNN Needs to Do Better Profiling of Blithering Birthers & Their Naysaying Cousins
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009I was watching CNN’s broadcast last night, August 12, of the town hall meetings turned into ranting cages for “those people” barking about topics and subjects that have nothing to do with health care. A smart strategy by organizers, brain trusts – clearly extreme right – who came up with this plan to use the news media for their agenda.
Smart strategy – I have to say that one more time.
CNN, however, needs to do a better job of telling its viewers who these people are, to put things into context.
