NYC’s anti-discrimination employment laws regarding hostile workplaces are broader than state and federal laws and can provide redress for targets/victims of workplace-academic bullying even though there are no (at least for now) city, state and federal laws against this particular form of workplace bigotry, Commissioner Carmelyn Malalis said in an interview.

Workplace Bullying and Ethical Leadership

Hey, Colleague Larry Shore: Shouldn’t D:F/M keep a copy of this article at the ready along with its Robert’s Rules of Order* (even if D:F/M feigns following RRoO).

In a piece he wrote several years ago, “Workplace Bullying and Ethical Leadership” (Journal of Values-Based Leadership, 2008), Professor David Yamada  “suggested that a strong test of an organization’s values and ethics is how it handles a case of severe workplace bullying perpetrated by one of its leading executives or ‘rainmakers.’ I stand behind that point today. Institutions that sweep work abuse under the rug because the perpetrator is at or near the top of the organizational chart are among the lowest of the low.”

Wooly Bully Update: Banzai!

Because of an ally who reached out to American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten, my petition supporting the NYS Healthy Workplace Bill to make workplace/academic bullying illegal has shifted into high gear, leading to a propitious moment to revise strategies, from the simple to the strategic. Simple, such as, Wooly Bully Update to be replaced by The Dirty Linen Update: Silence=Complicity.
