2013 Ippies for Excellence in Ethnic, Community Journalism in NYC Area
Friday, March 29th, 2013The Center for Community and Ethnic Media at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism held the 11th awards ceremony last night, March 28.
In a glittering ceremony, the newly-minted Center for Community and Ethnic Media tonight honored members of the independent ethnic and community media. This was the 11th annual presentation of the IPPIES Awards and the second hosted by CUNY’s Graduate School of Journalism.
Several stories are in the works.

Students Evaluate Their Instructors
Sunday, January 13th, 2013I engage my students throughout the semester so I usually have an idea how they might evaluate the class/me. I keep the following in mind: 1) Many resist reading the syllabus, and I get annoyed, waiting for signs that reality is penetrating their resistance, that they’re not following the guidelines and rules that can significantly impact their grades. It is not unusual for students to dare me to flunk them and I do when they don’t clean up their act.
