Student Journalism Should Be Serious Journalism – Part I
Sunday, March 8th, 2009Students in my journalism writing classes are required to publish or perish, and I remind them that they are engaging in real world journalism and that they need to be serious about what they are doing. I also tell them that because they are student journalists they need to prepare themselves for the big jolt: They will not get the kind of respect that they deserve because student journalism is not regarded well.
