Wednesday, June 12th, 2013Today, June 12, 2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of civil rights leader Medgar Evers, who worked tirelessly to secure equal rights in the state of Mississippi. After becoming the first state field secretary of the NAACP in Mississippi, Evers organized and participated in voter-registration efforts, demonstrations, and economic boycotts of companies that practiced discrimination. Evers also worked to investigate crimes perpetrated against African Americans.

What I’m saying is race is the prism through which people see things,” Geragos said.
