The performance evaluation of President Raab is being conducted by the CUNY Chancellery. They evaluate all CUNY presidents every 5 to 7 years. Selection of who gets the survey and the content of the survey is determined by the CUNY Chancellery.

Dear Colleagues,

In the next few days a number of faculty and staff will receive a survey intended to evaluate the performance of President Raab. I am encouraging those who receive the survey to fill it out. Clearly this is an important opportunity for members of the Hunter community to go on record regarding their experience with the leadership role played by President Raab.

Filling out the survey represents a rare opportunity to exercise our right and role as citizens of Hunter College. I have been assured that the strictest standards of confidentiality will be followed. Therefore President Franklin Roosevelt’s often cited statement “we have nothing to fear but fear itself” is especially apt in relationship to this moment at Hunter.

Likely, there will be a very quick turnaround from the time you receive the survey to the date it is due. We are therefore encouraging you to look for the survey in the next few days, fill it out quickly and return it.

If you have any questions I can be reached at the following phone number and email address.

CUNY Presidential Evaluation Process
Sent: Friday, February 28, 2014 10:50 AM
From: Jennifer Raab, Hunter College President
Dear Hunter Community,

In 2008, CUNY instituted a new evaluation process for College Presidents, which are conducted every three to five years. This semester, I will be participating in this process. The evaluations are based on three sources of information: a self-assessment; institutional data about Hunter’s performance; and responses to an online survey that a sample of the Hunter community will be invited to complete. If your name is selected by the survey team, you will receive an email invitation from Interim Chancellor William Kelly explaining how to complete the survey. Responses are collected anonymously by ConnectEDU, an independent company, through their secure server. I have been advised that members of the Interim Chancellor’s staff will summarize the data, and that responses will be kept strictly confidential.

Participation in the survey is voluntary. However, I encourage everyone invited to respond as thoughtfully and fully as possible in order to support the most useful evaluation possible. If you have any questions about the process, please contact Dr. Cheryl Littman, University Director of the Performance Management Process, at (646) 664-8031 or cheryl.littman@cuny.edu .

Thank you, in advance, for your help with this important process.

Jennifer J. Raab
President
