The Slowest of a Slow News Day Can Sometimes Compel Desperate Measures

Some days the mainstream news media hurt for news. No murders/violence of sufficient import to headline; same for traffic accidents, celebrity sitings as well as man-bites-dog, dog-bites-man-who-bites-dog-that-snuffs-kitty and, a rare one, kitty-fights-back-eating-man-and-dog. In desperation they bite the bullet as the New York Daily News did about the hungry man in Florida.

The editors obviously were compelled to put this on the front page of their news web site – Man busted for calling 911 TWICE to say, ‘I’m hungry’ – because there was nothing better in the five boroughs where  8,008,278 live (NYC 2000 census).
