Open Letter to Hunter’s ICIT

Dear Instructional Computing and Information Technology Department (AKA ICIT),

Thanks for the years of supporting my efforts to publish the WORD  (despite considerable obstacles). That invaluable service, of course, includes support for my classroom instruction where much of the WORD content is developed, essentially the heart and soul of the project. You may be gone (from D:F/M, that is) but you are not forgotten by this instructor as this spring semester begins.

usual-suspects

This professor savored ICIT’s advice, alerts and warnings as ominous signs appeared on the horizon some years ago. That allowed this instructor to prepare for and mitigate deleterious circumstances and events to his  classroom instruction. Though the best undergraduate network for students of media and journalism at CUNY has gone the way of the DoDo, the successes,* despite the adversity because of ICIT’s support will not be forgotten.

Forever grateful.

*Successes: Such as and definitely not limited to, student journalists attending the New Hampshire Primaries and Democratic National Convention in Denver when Obama was nominated, a FORD foundation grant for a multimedia ethnic journalism project, as well as the development of excellent internship opportunities and jobs (even in this sorry economy) – and numerous other sundry accomplishments.
