This is such nonsense.
No one in the administration is worries about any fracas. [Lie]
They are enormously frustrated by your ongoing uncollegial and unprofessional behavior. [Lie, though I believe they wouldn’t lose sleep if I stopped writing and posting]
Stop trying to make it seem like some big department fight. [That’s what the Provost said long ago. She hasn’t been the only one.]
Its not, Its you against the whole department. [Could be]
If you had allies your situation would have more credibility. [If I had more allies, I wouldn’t have to file complaints and write memos; I could be respected as Colleagues should be in this department if it was sane.]
You are totally isolated – there is not one person in the department, the college or the administration who believes anything you say when you publish this stuff. [Not true]
If mediation it helps you stop you from posting your personal attacks on the faculty then lets do it.
And yes Kelly and I have broad support within the department. [That’s true]
And we both have outstanding reputations throughout the college. [That’s not true, especially regarding him. Until recently Kelly stayed out of public fights (except for those occasions when I posted on Hunter-L about some of her shenanigans but she goofed with a recent Hunter-L post [described in another post on this site. ]I’ll put them against yours any day.
So stop publishing these personal attacks and we can all get on with what we are supposed to do. [I am doing what I’m suppose to do: Outing the moronic coming and going of the Department of Film and Media Studies at Hunter College]Cheers
Larry
_____Friends/Colleagues (out of D:F/M of course),
Ha.
Actually,
this (Kelly Anderson’s Post below) is not true. Kelly is lying. I’m writing
you because my emails are being reviewed by “List Moderators” so my reply
TMI is not going to see the light of day and I want to get this off my chest
quickly (which usually isn’t always the best idea). PLEASE DON’T POST OR FWD
on H-L. I’m working on this blog project and would prefer that I “broke” the
news. These are the kinds of lies that Kelly and Larry Shore are
disseminating and I really need them for my project.Anyway, the Provost and I had a discussion about this
matter a while back when she said the College was concerned that this fracas
between me and my Colleagues was generating concern on the 17th Floor and
that
the department’s image could be damaged if it continued. We talked 60+
minutes.
We were discussing what was to be my enhanced role in D:F/M and she told me
to
go talk to Dean John Rose and (short version) he and I were to consult with
an outside mediator about
this fight and arrange some of mediating sessions.I brought
this up a few times at department meetings (the fighting not the mediating)
and was told by Colleagues like
Bob Stanley and Joel Zucker that the conflict wasn’t really that bad, that
there have been worse and that this was just over-concern on the part of the
administration. When I was tipped off that the Regime-Change-Plan fell
through, I showed up at the meeting anyway (for the project, of course ) and
then went off to do other things but ended up getting bushwhacked.I’m not sure who else will be trying to support Kelly and Larry. Their
“reputations” are intact inside D:F/M where chimera runs high but outside,
it’s not the same, especially Larry.Best
GM

Subject: Re: TMI/deserves betterbelieve me, this is embarrassing for those of us in film and media who are
not perpetrating it … we have been trying to ignore the inappropriate
postings by one colleague in particular for years. this is not an
deparmental conflict — just one individual. maybe if more people express
their feelings about it we can get him off this listserve? there are
guidelines for posting …prof. anderson
