Kisha Allison, a senior writer/producer, Â is an award winning student journalist and a member of the Thomas Hunter Honors Program at Hunter College, City University of New York. Besides the WORD, she writes for the Shield, an independent, Hunter student-operated magazine covering topics and issues of the African-American Diaspora. In February of 2008, the New York chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists awarded her its Romona Moore Scholarship.
Jonathan Mena, a senior editor/producer for the WORD, is also a documentary filmmaker with two films currently in production. His article and Youtube exclusive about the NYPD planning to stop issuing police passes to the news media generated a lot of publicity in New York City journalism circles last March. Jacqueline Ng Fernandez is a correspondent for The Filipino Express, an English language national newspaper based in New Jersey and New York. Fernandez has worked as a production intern at CNN and has also worked as an assistant for New America Media. In 2006, Fernandez was a senior editor for the WORD, hunterword.com. Fernandez is also The Senior Director of The Coalition for the Revitalization of Asian American Studies at Hunter (CRAASH) and also an Associate Director for the New York City Asian American Student Conference.
