“We won’t allow the network to court us as viewers while, at the same time, they allow Dobbs to spread lies and misinformation about us each night,” Roberto Lovato, a founding member of Presente.org, was quoted in the New York Times as saying about CNN’s Lou Dobbs. Also wrote the NY Times reporter: “The hypocrisy, critics say, lies in CNN’s decision to woo Hispanic viewers with a prime-time documentary while still giving Mr. Dobbs a nightly forum.”

Events planned in more than 20 cities represent growing backlash to the network’s October 21-22 special in light of CNN’s continued support of Lou Dobbs. New Yorkers to gather in front of Time Warner/CNN Headquarter, 4 p.m. tomorrow.

Despite Air America “Blackout,” Companies Support Beck, Dobbs, and Limbaugh

Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Lou Dobbs have used their radio and television shows to incite hatred and push wild conspiracy theories, leading several of Beck’s advertisers to reportedly pull out of his broadcasts. Many advertisers have nonetheless sponsored these hosts’ hate speech in recent weeks, including major corporations and organizations that, in 2006, reportedly requested that ABC Radio Networks not air their advertisements during any Air America programs.

CNN Quashes Watchdog Group’s Ad Campaign

CNN announced on Tuesday that it would not air ads produced by the media watchdog group, Media Matters. The group’s ads pressure CNN to direct Lou Dobbs away from further questioning the legitimacy of President Barack Obama’s birth certificate.

The host’s now infamous “birther conspiracy” broadcasts struck a chord with racist paranoiacs around the country when he insisted that Obama produce his original birth certificate for the sake of what Dobbs terms “transparency.” (more…)

Howie Kurtz’s “Reliable Sources” on CNN: Bravo

His CNN segment this morning about the news reporting and commentating on the Cambridge-Obama Never Ending Story (So Far) was exceptional, I believe, and so informative I’m planning to use transcripts of the show for my J-classes.

I also liked an earlier “CNN’s Howard Kurtz Criticizes CNN’s Lou Dobbs For Giving Airtime To ‘Birther’ Conspiracies.” No attempt here to comment or summarize. The serious should go to the source.
