Disastrous.

These classes weren’t as organized as they should have been (too many departmental distractions for the instructor) and too many students in the poorly under-enrolled classes weren’t prepared, that is, their introductory news classes hadn’t prepped them for advanced courses. That’s been happening a lot.

Senior Editor/Producer Jonathan Mena And Writer/Reporter Kisha Allison at the New Hampshire Primaries

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

They hit New Hampshire running, arriving Monday, January 7, in South Boston, via Amtrack, and then hopping a bus ride about an hour later to Manchester where they were hoping to catch up with members of the Independent Press Association of New York (soon – we’re talking days – to become known as the New York Community Media Alliance) which had arrived about an hour before them.

Emily C. Ruiz

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

A former New York City Fire Department paramedic who enrolled in Hunter and eventually became a WORD senior editor/producer before interning/working for Bronxnet (in the Bronx, of course) and Transit Transit News Magazine, both cable TV news operations, Emily C. Ruiz will be in Washington, D.C. for four months this spring courtesy the Hispanic Link and Scripps Howard Foundation.

She will be learning to cover politics of the Latino communities (room and board are paid for and she has a stipend for living expenses). She will be dealing and networking with politicos and movers and shakers inside the Belt Way (that’s what Hispanic Link said).

Check this out: They liked her so much that they delayed her show-up time so that she can graduate this January and attend commencement (that’s what Hispanic Link told me).

ECR has opened a door for other Hunter students (that’s what HL said) but they gotta’ have a portfolio.
