Is Barack Obama Safe in “Fort Denver”?

By WORD Special Correspondent Jonathan Mena

Police in full swat gear with fully automatic rifles and secret service agents can been seen around the downtown streets of Denver for days. The highway that runs parallel to the Invesco Field will be blocked and shut down the day Obama’s accepts the nomination. A Homeland Security agent whom I interviewed and who asked to remain anonymous called the Invesco Field, “a soft target” which could be attacked with explosives, “causing mass causalities.”

He further said the entire perimeter in a five-mile radius is to be highly protected by multiple agencies. I have attended past Obama events at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem and Obama’s concession speech in the New Hampshire primaries and observed at times lapses in security. With the election only four months away Obama’s handlers are on heighten security.

Downtown Denver has been dubbed, “Fort Denver.” Officers patrol the area on all two-wheel vehicles from Bicycles to Segways. Cops hanging on the side of white jeeps zoom down the streets blocking traffic and following any large group of demonstrators. Even cops directing traffic are in full combat gear. Authorities have brought out all the stops to keep Obama safe.

Three men have been arrested in connection with a threat against Barack Obama during the Democratic National Convention.  The Democratic candidate has received death threats since announcing his candidacy nearly two years ago. Denver authorities found weapons, bullet resistant vests and a meth lab in a car belonging to one of the men, according to news reports. Authorities called the men, “meth heads,” who lacked the capability to pull off an attempt on Obama’s life. With less than 48 hours until Obama appears at  are on high alert.
